The size of a deck of cards, our portable, self-contained web server uses Raspberry Pi hardware to teach children in juvenile detention centers the coping skills they need to return to society. This Linux and Java-enabled device forms its own network and internet connection, and lets a facilitator work through practical, real-life scenarios using iPads and iPods.
Similar to Alexa and Siri, we have developed a tool that caseworkers can speak to, and use to generate ad hoc reports. It responds to natural language inquiries such as “show me my cases that have been open for 30 days,” “show me my cases with two children” and many more.
To help caseworkers more accurately assess risk for children in their care, we are building a neural network observer that thinks like a human. After a specified number of cases are rated by humans, the network starts thinking and assessing risks like the human brain would, and will make its own suggestions.
