RedMane Technology Partners with Florida Department of Children and Families to Modernize Adult Protective Services Systems
The Florida Department of Children and Families’ (DCF) Adult Protective Services (APS) unit has successfully modernized its legacy service delivery and case management systems for vulnerable adults across the state in partnership with RedMane Technology.
With the new service delivery system in place, APS staff can now manage all aspects of service programs more efficiently. Preliminary analysis indicates that the project has reduced the time required to complete an adult investigation by 35%, significantly improving the efficiency of their operations, said Jeff Dolan, General Manager – U.S. Public Sector of RedMane.
The system’s cloud-based architecture allows for increased flexibility and quick adaptation to changes in policies or practices, ensuring that the APS unit can continue to meet the evolving needs of vulnerable adults across Florida.
The modernization project builds upon the SAFE (Serving Adults and Families Effectively) solution for adult investigations, which introduced state-of-the-art technology to APS’s investigation function in 2023. Following the success of SAFE, APS embarked on implementing a modernized service delivery and case management system using RedMane’s mCase platform, added Jeff Dolan. Powered by RedMane’s service-oriented architecture (SOA) system, the mCase platform provides the flexibility required to support Florida’s APS unit without the need for extensive coding when changes arise. This successful implementation marks another step forward in Florida’s commitment to safeguarding and supporting at-risk adults.
This upgraded system has transformed how APS staff manage cases by streamlining the creation and maintenance of comprehensive case records, managing waitlists, generating and populating electronic forms, capturing e-signatures, configuring payments, and conducting progress evaluations. The system integrates seamlessly with other state systems, improving the overall efficiency and coordination of adult service programs. As a result, there is significantly enhanced productivity both in the office and the field, improving the overall quality of support provided to vulnerable adults across Florida.
Engagement Highlights:
- The overall project duration for both phases spanned approximately two years. Phase 1 took one year, while Phase 2 was completed within eight months.
- All legacy cases, including associated documents, were successfully converted into the SAFE system from the legacy platform, allowing Florida to decommission the legacy system and reducing support costs.
- The initiative transitioned workflows and forms from paper-based activities to a digital format, enabling social workers to dedicate more time to serving clients than managing paperwork.
- Two assessments were digitized: 1099 and 3019.
- Multiple end-user workflows were set up in the system to boost efficiency.
