RedMane Supports the “Blue Campaign” that Raises Human Trafficking Awareness
In honor of Human Trafficking Awareness Day, RedMane renews its dedication to supporting the fight against human trafficking and encourages everyone to wear blue tomorrow to raise awareness.
Human trafficking continues to be a significant global problem. According to last year’s report by the U.S. Department of State, 27.6 million people were victims worldwide, with about 50% of victims being children. This calls for increased action and vigilance.
Trafficking often remains hidden, with traffickers using sophisticated methods to exploit and control victims. The resulting trauma can prevent victims from seeking help.
Efforts by organizations and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) have improved public education and awareness. The DHS-led Blue Campaign has been instrumental in teaching people to recognize and respond to trafficking signs:
- Disconnectedness
- Sudden behavioral changes
- Seemingly “scripted” interactions
- Unsuitable living conditions
- Lacking freedom of movement
- Working excessively long hours
- Tattoos/branding on the neck and/or lower back
- Fearful, timid, or submissive behavior
- Bruises and/or other signs of physical abuse
If you suspect trafficking, report it to law enforcement or the DHS hotline at 1-866-DHS-2-ICE. Avoid confronting suspects or approaching victims, as this can be dangerous.
