Laura Polk, Virginia Social Worker and Child Welfare Solution Leader, Joins RedMane Technology
Laura Polk has joined RedMane Technology to help RedMane clients improve child safety, permanency, and well-being through modern technology.
She brings over 25 years of experience in child welfare as a foster parent, foster/adoptive parent, social worker, trainer, technology leader, and proponent of believing data drives better outcomes for workers, managers, directors, and state and national leaders.
State Child Welfare Experience
Laura most recently was the program manager for the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Family Services IT Portfolio, where she oversaw enhancement and maintenance of Virginia’s child welfare system.
In that role, she led Virginia’s initiative to bring a mobile child welfare solution to 2,500 frontline workers. The award-winning solution, aimed at improving outcomes and reducing staff turnover, allows caseworkers to be fully productive in the community as they serve families and children at the moment of need.
Laura has significant experience managing Child and Family Services Reviews and Title IV-E Reviews. She led Virginia to its first-time passing of a federal primary Title IV-E review. Laura is also recognized for her leadership in helping capture the “story” of every family and child encountered by a child welfare agency.
Local Child Welfare Experience
Prior to her state work, Laura was a permanency supervisor at a local department of social services in Virginia. Her work focused on ensuring children who entered foster care were returned safely home or found permanency in other settings.
